DIY PROJECT | Basic Recycled Leather Zip Purse

August 11, 2015

Recycled Leather Zip Purse Tutorial | Easy to MakeThere really isn’t anything more gorgeous and luxurious than a leather purse, well in my eyes anyway. But I’m not so keen on the price tag of a store bought number…….so I’ve given it a go making my own. I have ended up using mine for a make up bag but they really could be used for anything and would make a fantastic gift. All up it cost me under $10 to make…..now that beats $500+

DIY PROJECT | Chunky Crochet Cushion Cover

July 21, 2015

DIY PROJECT_Crochet Cushion Cover

I’ve noticed a trend recently of chunky knit cushions……..and I love them. So I’ve decided to give it a go making one. After mulling over whether to knit or crochet….I decided on crocheting. I love the look of crochet and I found it achieved the chunky open knit I was after a lot more than knitting. As it turns out making my own chunky crochet cushion cover was super easy and cost a fraction of the price of a store bought one….easy and cheap are two of my favorite things…so win win on this project.

DIY PROJECT | Jar of Seeds Gift Idea

July 2, 2015

DIY Gift | Bottle of SeedsGiving the gift of seeds is a pretty special gift to give in my books and a decorated jar of seeds is a cool way of giving them. They are low cost and super thoughtful, since all the seeds will be from your own garden. Someone once gave me a jar of poppy seeds when they came to visit a while back. This gift really stuck in my head, it was such a thoughtful idea. She had gone to the trouble of harvesting the seeds and giving them to me in a cute jar with beads wrapped around, I was touched. Ever since I have kept this idea tucked away in the “diy gift idea” part of my mind, to be trundled out when a) I had some seeds and b) I could find the perfect reason to give them. Finding a reason was pretty easy but I had to wait until the end of the growing season to get my hands on lots of seeds.

How to make a chopping board

This week I had my first woodwork class. I know zero about woodwork but felt I needed to learn a thing or two before we build our house next year. As I’m envisaging myself being quite involved with the build, especially the interior fittings. At the moment I come up with lots of projects and then pester my other half to make them….so I’m looking forward to being able to “do it myself”

I decided my first project was going to be a simple chopping board. I had visions of one of those gorgeous antique french boards with a paddle handle and lots rustic charm.

DIY PROJECT | Upcycle Glass Decanters for Food Storage

May 23, 2015

Upcycle Glass Decanters for Food Storage

I love these old cut glass decanters, I’m always buying them from second hand shops when I come across them. But since I’m not the biggest spirit drinker in the world I’ve had to figure out another use for them.

So I’ve started using them in the kitchen. They are perfect, with their airtight stoppers, for storing all kinds of pantry items like nuts, seeds, lentils, quinoa and popping corn.
